Meeting new people is exhausting. You go through the small talk, the pleasantries, exchange a few stories, and walk away feeling like you’ve spun the wheel and landed on nothing. Ninety-nine times out of a hundred, that’s just how it goes.
But then there’s that one time - the jackpot moment. You stumble into a conversation that makes time slip. You meet someone who is layered, intricate, and profound, and it feels like hitting the lottery. That feeling—that rare, electrifying payout—is why I love meeting new people.
When you think about works of art, part of what makes them compelling is the sheer amount of effort and thought that’s gone into them—the hours, the intricacy, the craft.
In a way, human beings are the pinnacle of everything we’ve done as a species. Every person is a masterpiece shaped by generations of survival, learning, and countless events. Each one is a walking anthology of ideas, histories, and dreams, with an intricacy no painting or sculpture could ever match.
And that’s the magic of it. Sometimes you meet someone, and it’s like discovering a hidden gallery filled with rooms you never knew existed. Those moments remind you that the world is so much bigger and more interesting than one ever imagines.
That one time makes the other ninety-nine times worth it.
I think that’s what makes meeting people so addictive. It’s a gamble.
And like many addicts, nothing feels more exhilarating than rolling those dice and hoping for a big win.
